Climate readiness across Africa

Africa’s climate risks are rising. Readiness must rise with them.

Across the continent, climate impacts are intensifying while the systems, knowledge and capacity needed to anticipate, prepare and respond remain uneven.

The readiness gap

Climate action depends on the capacity to act.

Readiness is what turns climate commitments into protection, investment into results, and knowledge into action. It means institutions that can plan and respond, people who understand the risks around them, and communities with the capacity to prepare and adapt.

Our programmes

Three programmes. One readiness pathway.

Climate readiness requires more than one intervention. It means knowing where gaps exist, building the knowledge to respond, and creating the capacity to turn local challenges into action.

Climate Action Index

Make institutional readiness visible.

A public evidence platform showing what institutions have in place, where gaps remain and where stronger climate systems are needed.

Climate-Safe Schools

Build readiness through learning.

A practical school programme equipping teachers and students to understand climate challenges, connect them to their own communities and take informed action.

Crafting Tomorrow

Build the capacity to create solutions.

A youth innovation programme helping young people move from local climate problems to practical ideas, prototypes and tested solutions.

Readiness is a system, not a single programme.

Institutions need evidence. People need knowledge. Communities need problem-solvers. CCAIE brings these pieces together so climate action is not only planned, but increasingly possible to deliver.
