Our Mission

The Context Behind our Drive
Africa stands at a complex crossroads, grappling with the intertwined challenges of rapid development and environmental sustainability. The continent's vulnerability to climate change is exacerbated by its political conflicts, economic disparities, and infrastructural weaknesses, which vary significantly across its diverse regions. The central challenge is how Africa can pursue industrialization and achieve this in a way that aligns with the urgent need for decarbonization across multiple sectors, including transportation, agriculture, the built environment, and energy provision.
Achieving a continent-wide net-zero target will demand a nuanced approach that recognizes the unique conditions of different African regions and countries. This process involves more than just reducing emissions; it requires addressing deep-rooted social, economic, and political factors, investing in new technologies, reforming policies, and building local capacities.
